02 · Which markets are open right now
What time is it, and who's trading?

There's no SIPC in crypto, so reserves matter. OKX has published proof of reserves for 47 months in a row; the September 2026 report showed about $27.4B in major assets and 109% BTC coverage, which users can verify in the app.
After the hike and the stalled CLARITY Act, bitcoin held $81,000 by September 20 and was down only about 1.5% for the month, on track for its first quarterly gain in a year.
Bitcoin peaked near $126,000 in October 2025. At about $83,000 in late September 2026 it is down roughly 34%, deeper than the 20% stock traders call a bear market.
OKX (formerly OKEx) is a crypto exchange, not a broker. It isn't connected to your brokerage account, and it isn't covered by SIPC. If you're unsure whether a website, app, support agent or group is real, check it in the OKX app under Help → Official Verification. OKX staff will never ask for your password or add you to a signal group.
08 · What stock traders ask when they start crypto
Use what you know from stocks, one topic at a time.
Trading hours, valuation, short selling, macro, AI trading and job or credit concerns. Each guide starts with how stocks work, then shows what is different in crypto.
01What is the biggest difference between crypto and stock trading?
Crypto trades 24/7, has no circuit breakers and settles instantly. Add one-tap leverage and shorting, and both volatility and risk are far higher than in stocks.
02Can I buy bitcoin in my brokerage account?
Some brokers offer bitcoin ETFs or limited crypto trading, but you don't own the coins directly. To hold and move actual crypto, you open an account on an exchange such as OKX.
03Is crypto riskier than stocks?
Usually, yes. There are no earnings to analyse, no circuit breakers and no SIPC-style protection. Most stock traders keep crypto to a small share of their portfolio.
04Can I day trade crypto?
Yes. There's no pattern-day-trader rule on crypto spot, and you can buy and sell as often as you like. Every trade pays a fee, which is why the referral discount matters.
05What should a stock trader buy first?
Start with the largest, most liquid assets, bitcoin and ether, on spot and in small size. Skip leverage and newly listed coins until you know how the market moves.
06Does OKX have stop-loss orders?
Yes. OKX supports limit orders, stop-loss and take-profit, and trigger orders. Because crypto never closes, stops matter even more than in stocks.
07Is OKX a broker? Is my money insured?
OKX is a crypto exchange, not a broker, and crypto isn't covered by SIPC. OKX publishes monthly proof of reserves you can verify yourself.
08What is the OKX referral code?
Our code is OK66688. Enter it in the optional referral code field or use our button, and you get 20% off spot and futures fees, permanently. It can only be added at sign-up.
09Is this the official OKX site? Do you give signals?
No. This is an independent educational site. We don't give signals, run groups or handle funds. We may earn a commission if you sign up through our links, at no extra cost to you.
